Last week, at the International Association for Spectral Imaging (IASIM) Conference (14–17 June) in Umeå, Sweden, our partner TECNALIA Research & Innovation showcased cutting-edge research from the CIRCULess project through both an oral presentation and a poster contribution.
💡 During the workshop, Jon Ander I. presented the poster:
“Seeing Moisture, Missing Dirt: Pixel-Level SWIR-HSI Characterisation of Grey-Fraction Construction and Demolition Waste Across Size Fractions”.
This work, developed within the CIRCULess project, demonstrates how advanced Short-Wave Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging (SWIR-HSI) can improve the characterization and sorting of construction and demolition waste (CDW), helping unlock higher-value recycling pathways and supporting a more circular construction sector.
🔎 The event brought together researchers, industry professionals, and technology innovators committed to transforming climate ambitions into concrete, measurable actions.
Discussions focused on:
✅ Advanced waste characterization and material recovery technologies
✅ Data-driven approaches for circular construction value chains
✅ Innovative solutions to improve resource efficiency and recycling quality
✅ Practical pathways for scaling circular economy solutions in the built environment
👏 A big thank you to everyone who participated, shared knowledge, and contributed to the inspiring discussions.
