馃攳 How do you combine synthetic polymers with solid wood particles to create new composite materials? 馃尡鈾伙笍

馃帴 Part 2 of our 3-part Technical Video Series!

馃挕 In the CIRCULess project, we are exploring innovative technologies that transform wood residues into valuable resources for circular manufacturing.

鈿欙笍 In this second technical video, we take a closer look at extrusion compounding, demonstrating how polypropylene (PP) and wood particles are combined to produce wood鈥損lastic composites (WPCs).

But here’s the technical challenge: Polypropylene needs heat to melt, while wood particles can degrade when exposed to excessive temperatures. How can these two materials be successfully combined? 馃

馃敩 This video demonstrates the key stages of the process:

馃敼 Material preparation

馃敼 Controlled extrusion

馃敼 Composite formation

馃敼 Cooling and stabilization

馃敼 Collection

馃實 Why does this matter for industry?

For manufacturers exploring sustainable materials and circular production processes, this technical demonstration provides practical insights into how wood residues can be incorporated into polymer composites, supporting resource efficiency and the development of alternative material solutions.
